K&A provided comprehensive A/E services for Promise House, a 6114 SF two-story supportive housing facility in New Brunswick, New Jersey. The project provides dignified, independent living for 10 homeless individuals with a history of mental illness. The units were designed in studio, and one-bedroom configurations, and combines individual apartment living with common areas to encourage social interaction and create a sense of family. Four of the units are fully handicapped accessible.
The building supports recovery and community integration, and provides high quality housing that is safe and comfortable. Promise House is a certified ENERGY STAR® Home through New Jersey’s Clean Energy Program™ and includes sustainable features such as recycled content products, water efficient fixtures, and durable and renewable interior and exterior finishes. K&A served as the Home Energy Rating System Rater (HERS) for this project and conducted energy analyses and onsite inspections to to ensure the residence met ENERGY STAR® performance guidelines.
